Management Skills

Caroline Frost Consultancy_Logo smaller PNG copyWhile there appears to be so much focus on Leadership training, it’s important to remember that skilled Managers are vital to any company.    You may have the most talented Board around,  but without effective Managers to put initiatives into action, and keep your staff engaged,  there’s a disconnect that damages the business.

I enjoy working with Managers, from newly appointed Managers who are laser keen to get started (and often want to control everything!) to more cynical old timers who really think they have learned everything there is to know about how to manage.

Much of management is actually common sense, but I run training workshops where Managers have ‘aha’ moments – yes even the most cynical ones.   I rely on lots of interaction and tools to get them engaged so they can have an experience, rather than be lectured.

There are vital topics that I don’t think should be delivered by any external training agency – like performance management and appraisal training – as these will be tailored to suit your own procedures and templates.   I can deliver the principles of these but it’s stronger with actual examples.

Where I specialise is in the areas of Situational Management,  Coaching Skills, Motivation,  Dealing with difficult People, Time and Priority management,  Managing Change, Presentation skills and also if required, using Psychometric tools to develop self -awareness.  I am qualified to administer DISC (Thomas PPA),  MBTI Myers Briggs,  and Belbin.

Here are some comments about the Management training sessions I have delivered:

‘She has great skill in ensuring that all participants in a group discussion – irrespective of how loud or timid they may be – have a fair share of voice.  Sessions she runs generate many aha moments of enlightenment.  I am very grateful for the investment she made in my development as a manager and leader’    Mike W, Chief Content Officer.

These comments are from evaluation forms after Senior Management courses, and are not attributed to individuals:

I felt comfortable and safe discussing issues and conflicts.  Was great to learn new skills and practise them and also to review lots of helpful tools.   Fantastic course, really flown by   Highly relevant course with lots of useful exercises. ‘

Fantastic, thank you!  Can’t wait for Part 2!  I learnt a lot about my leadership style and attitude to tasks.  There were lots of key takeaways for me from this session.  ‘
